Impact Hub
Project Scope: Communications Design, Organizational Development
For the Design Leadership capstone course, Competitive Advantage, I had the opportunity to work with Impact Hub Baltimore in addressing some of the organization’s needs as they prepare for their official launch in fall 2015. Impact Hub Baltimore’s mission is to cultivate, support, and connect a community of Baltimore change makers by providing inclusive workspace and innovative programming to scale and sustain their social impact
One of the needs mentioned by Impact Hub cofounders was for programming ideas to fill the Impact Hub space. In the empathy sessions I held with the co-founders, they mentioned that they want to scale and adapt according to the changing needs of the community. They want to reflect the needs and desires of the users at all times, and be driven by those needs. My challenge became, “How can I create a tool that helps with programming creation, but remains relevant as the community grows and changes?”

My goal became the creation of a programming toolkit: a template or guide that would guide programming development. By addressing ways for Impact Hub leadership to hone in on user needs and cultivate activities, they would have an additional tool that remained relevant even as the community evolved. It was a wonderful opportunity.
Key Learning Moments:
- Long-Term Client Interaction
- On-Site Ethnography and User Interviews
- Market Demand Survey Analysis
